Adrien Niyonshuti wins Rwanda National ITT

It was a succesfull weekend for Rwanda’s first female pro cyclist Girubuntu Jean D’Arc who earned both the time trial and the road race title in the first ever national women championships.

After winning the time trial on Saturday, Jeanne D’Arc won the road race on Sunday ahead of ahead Niyonsaba Clementine and Uwingabire Beatha.

“It feels good to win today.I am very happy that we now have several women’s races in Rwanda including the national championships.We have a lot young women riders who need enough races to increase their level.”said Jeanne D’Arc Last year,Jeanne D’Arc Girubuntu became the first black African athlete to compete in the World Championships , in Richmond, where she went 44th in the time trial and 87th in the road race.
